FAQs & Fees
I am registered with various Private Medical Insurance companies. If you have PMI cover it’s worth checking if I’m registered with them or not. Please ask for details.
All fees are reviewed annually.
However, please note that for all therapies mentioned below, my fee is £100 for 60 mins but this varies according to whether you come weekly or fortnightly and wish for a 1 hour or a 1.5-hour session.
A free 30 minute online or telephone chat to discuss your issues and to find out whether you feel you could work with me or how I can help you is also available if arranged first by email or phone.
Counselling & Psychotherapy For Individuals:
I work in an integrative way combining many ideas and creative processes and techniques based on 35 years’ experience. I have trained in several modalities.
Please note, it is a professional requirement for UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) to undertake 50-60 hours of Continuous Professional Development mainly in the form of short courses or conferences each year in order to keep my knowledge fresh and up-to-date.
My standard fee for individuals is £100 for 60 minutes or £150 for 90 minutes for weekly sessions. The fee is £115 for 60 minutes if fortnightly sessions are required.
My preferred form of therapeutic work now is mainly EMDR but it is embedded in a solid 30+ years’ background in other psychotherapeutic training and methods… Please see below:
EMDR Therapy for Trauma, Abuse & Other Issues:
My standard fee for individuals is £100 for 60 minutes or £150 for 90 minutes for weekly sessions. The fee is £115 for 60 minutes if fortnightly sessions are required.
This distinct form of therapy utilises a targeted approach to resolve various issues where you have felt disturbing and difficult feelings. These issues, sometimes including feelings such as anxiety and depression, may have been underpinned by events which have felt traumatic to you going back into your childhood. This is not always obvious in life. Please note that EMDR uses special protocols, sometimes using special equipment, to enable you to resolve these issues and to facilitate emotional change at a deep physiological and neurological level. It is unique and follows a specific procedure which is unlike other forms of talking therapy.
Please note that this kind of therapy works extremely well using Video-Conferencing (see paragraph below).
Counselling for Joint or Couple Sessions:
The first session is an assessment session and lasts 1.5 hours for which the fee will be proportionally higher. All subsequent sessions may be whatever you require but as long as it’s on a regular basis.
The 1.5 hour assessment session is £150.
My standard fee for Joint/Couples sessions is £110 for 60-minutes weekly and £125 for 60 minutes for fortnightly sessions.
Video-Conferencing
I work online on a secure telemedical video platform. It is easy to use and there will be nothing for you to download to your computer. Access details will be given at the time of making the appointment via phone of email.
If you would like to meet me in person that is possible for the first one or two sessions, then we will revert to online meetings.
All fees MUST be paid in advance by cheque or BACS transfer. Please phone or email me to arrange an appointment slot and to take my payment details. There will be no charge for this initial contact.
Supervision & Consultation for Individual Trainee and Qualified Counsellors
Frequency of supervision and length of supervision sessions can be discussed according to your needs.
The basic fee for each 60-minute supervision hour is £80 or for 1.5 hours it is £115 for all qualified and trainee counsellors.
How Long Will I Have To Come For?
I recommend that new people come for a free 30-minute introduction online or by phone so we can both decide if we can work together and you can ask any questions. Note that in the first few paid-for sessions it can take a while to record your background history information, before we can decide where the real work begins.
Each person is different but it may take several sessions before it seems as if any help has taken place, or whether further issues have surfaced which need exploring. At this point, for complex issues, and for change at deeper levels, people can mentally prepare themselves for longer therapy, over a period of several months or several years depending on the therapy chosen and the issues involved. We will have regular reviews to check that help is still taking place
What If I Need To Cancel?
I ask for a minimum of 1-weeks’ notice for all pre-arranged leave or cancelled sessions. A FULL fee will be charged for any missed or cancelled sessions with less than a full 48 hour’s prior notice. A HALF-FEE will be charged for any missed or cancelled sessions with less than 1 week’s prior notice. Unfortunately, this policy has to apply in any and all circumstances. However ……
….. In mitigation for the above however, if I can offer you an alternative slot before and as well as your normal next appointment, I will do so without extra charge for the re-arranged session; mostly though, this is mutually difficult to re-arrange, particularly if you come weekly and I work only two-and-a half days a week. In that case I will then still have to charge for the missed session.
Assuming there are no diary limitations to prevent it, one session may only be re-arranged once for free between any regular weekly or fortnightly slot.
Another alternative option in the case of less than 1 week’s notice of cancellation is to have a double session next time at your usual appointment slot. In this situation this would be the usual fee which you pay for your session but doubled (assuming the cancellation fee hasn’t already been paid). This may be impossible to arrange though due to diary limitations. In that case the fee for the missed session would still be payable. An extended session would also have to be before and as well as your usual next appointment. Where this option is not possible either, the missed session fee will still be charged.
Please note that the FULL fee is always charged even in the event of late arrival, however unfortunate or accidental ….

What Types of Therapy are on Offer?
Amongst many other methods, I have received substantial training and/or CPD (Continuous Personal/Professional Development) in each of the modalities listed below over the last 35 years.
My usual method is to offer them, where appropriate, in a seamless way, as part of an integrative package**.
Psychotherapy (Integrative approach incorporating Jungian, Humanistic, Psychodynamic & Transpersonal Principles)
**EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) – The full 8-phase protocol will always be used. This is my preferred therapy and the one I use mostly as it takes many of the ideas from most of the other therapies mentioned here, and it is also possible to incorporate suitable ideas and other approaches in an appropriate, specified way.
CBT and Mindfulness
Couple or Relationship Therapy
Inner Journey Intensives (based on the work by Brandon Bays)
Mind Clearing
NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
What Does Holistic Mean?
To me, this means that I work with all aspects of a person’s makeup, recognising that a difficulty, very often, manifests on several planes. For example, a physical symptom may be alerting us to an unresolved problem on other levels, such as our mental attitudes, or unexpressed emotion. I am interested in health and healing at all levels, including, at one end of the spectrum, the use of diet and nutritional supplements, to the practice of meditation at the other end.
